Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard is speaking out about the success enjoyed by fellow 1st overall pick Macklin Celebrini with the San Jose Sharks.
There has been lots made about the dynamic between Connor Bedard, taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, and Macklin Celebrini, taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks.
Both players are the faces of their respective franchises, and both are trying to make
Canada's roster for the Olympics in 2026.
Right now, it appears as though Celebrini has the inside track on making Canada's roster.
Even though it would be extremely disappointing for Bedard if he missed out on a chance to play for Canada,
he's still happy to see the success of Celebrini, who he calls a friend.
"It's been fun to watch. Him and I are good buddies. The funny part about it is every time he gets a point or scores, I'm one of the happiest guys. I'm just excited for him, he's doing so well and their team is having success. I know [that's] the most important thing to him."

Macklin Celebrini Could Make Team Canada Instead Of Connor Bedard
Right now, Celebrini has 26 points (10G, 16A), while Bedard has 25 points (9G, 16A).
Per multiple projections, Celebrini is likely going to make the Canada roster over Bedard, which would be disappointing for Bedard, who badly wants to make the Canadian roster.
He was snubbed from Canada during the 4 Nations Faceoff in February, something he chalked up to having a slower start to the year.
