Chicago Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill has confirmed that forward Frank Nazar won't be able to play in Chicago's game on Wednesday which is against the New Jersey Devils.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar has missed the last few games with an injury that occurred during their win against the Calgary Flames.
He was
forced to miss Sunday's win against the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings, which was likely hard for him since he's from the area and would likely have had family and friends there to watch him.
Based on the latest information from head coach Jeff Blashill, Nazar's status for their next game against the New Jersey Devils is not promising.
Nazar did not practice on Tuesday at the team's practice facility.
Per Blackhawks analyst Ben Pope, they rolled with the following lines:
Blackhawks' forward lines in practice with Nazar and Dickinson absent:
Bertuzzi-Bedard-Burakovsky
Teravainen-Greene-Mikheyev
Moore, Donato, Foligno, Dach and Lafferty all rotating on 3rd and 4th lines
If the Blackhawks can continue winning without Nazar, it will make his eventual return to the lineup that much more valuable.
Frank Nazar Was Recently Signed To A Major Contract Extension
The Blackhawks have chosen to show some tremendous faith in the potential of Nazar by locking him up to a seven-year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of approximately $6.59 million despite his not even having played 70 games total at the time of the signing.
So far, it's paid off. Nazar had 11 points (5G, 6A) in the 15 games he played in before getting hurt against the Flames, and he's been an integral part of the forward lines with
Connor Bedard.
