Chicago Blackhawks recall forward from the AHL's Rockford IceHogs amidst injury troubles
There are still numerous injuries on the Chicago Blackhawks right now, and it's forcing them to call up some help from the American Hockey League.
Forward Landon Slaggert has been called up from the Rockford IceHogs and will be going tonight against the New Jersey Devils if Andre Burakovsky
isn't able to play; he's been labeled as a game-time decision.
Also, the Blackhawks are still missing
Frank Nazar and Jason Dickinson.
"Burakovsky is a game-time decision. Dickinson is out. Slaggert is being recalled"
"Chicago head coach Jeff Blashill said Andre Burakovsky is a game-time decision tonight vs. New Jersey.
Landon Slaggert is being called up and will slide into the lineup if Burakovsky can't go with Frank Nazar and Jason Dickinson also out because of injuries."
Landon Slaggert Is Improving His Play With The IceHogs
Slaggert was taken by the Blackhawks with the 79th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the team last March.
But he was hurt during most of training camp and the preseason and wasn't able to make the kind of mark that the team hoped because of it.
Last year, he did play in 33 games in a Blackhawks sweater and had six points (2G, 4A).
So far this year with the IceHogs, he has a goal in three games. He's also played in five games in Chicago but has no points.
