The Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson confirmed a move involving Connor Bedard, likely a contract extension, is underway.

The 2026 free agent class will be a stacked one, with Connor McDavid, Connor Bedard, Kirill Kaprizov, Lane Hutson and many more NHL stars all looking for a new contract.
The Chicago Blackhawks will surely want to avoid waiting on Connor Bedard's extension. A great 2025-26 season could put Bedard in a position to ask for more money.
In a recent interview, Davidson acknowledged that they've started the process, but Bedard will decide when it gets done.
Here's what he said:
"I probably don't want to get too far into it, but we are talking. So, I think that's an indicator of an openness to discuss.

He made his thoughts very clear at the end of the season, and subsequently in other interviews, that he's committed to Chicago and wants to be here long term. And we obviously want him here long term, so there's mutual agreement there.

It's going to make some of these a little more drawn out than maybe they would have been in the past on a more flat cap. But yeah, we've started and we'll see if something gets done."

Bedard did express his wishes to remain in Chicago long term at the end of the season and added how he isn't worried about the timing of the negotiations:
"We have a great relationship, and everyone knows I want to be a Hawk as long as I'm playing. And I know they appreciate me and want me with the team. Whether it's done next week or during the year or at the end of the year, that doesn't stress me out too much. Anything can happen, but the relationship with me and the team is really strong."

Stay tuned for further updates on Connor Bedard's contractual situation with the Chicago Blackhawks.
