A major development in Connor Bedard leaving the Blackhawks after his former teammate exposes his mistreatment
The Chicago Blackhawks didn't send forward Philipp Kurashev a qualifying offer. As a result, he'd have to take his talents to the West Coast after spending the majority of his career in Chicago and Rockford.
This happens all the while Kyle Davidson fails to acquire any meaningful talent while he's begun his career in the NHL, and robbing him of his friends, like Kurashev. Davidson has let players like
Brock Boeser and Nikolaj Ehler escape his grasp. The mistreatment is real.
He joins another rebuilding team, gaining a fresh start with the team that drafted
Michael Misa and
Macklin Celebrini in the last two draft classes.
Kurashev has plenty of experience playing with other NHL superstars, notably Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks.
In an interview with the local media, they asked how his experience was with Bedard, and the kind of pressure he plays under in Chicago nightly.
Kurashev said Bedard handles the pressure with class and has been the Blackhawks' best forward for the past two seasons.
Scoring 54 points (16-39), being on the same line as his good friend. A good friend who has been dealt a crappy hand of card, playing with the Blackhawks but done his best regardless.
The former 4th-round pick was a beneficiary of being placed on the same line with Bedard during the 2023-24 season, and would have a career year.
It's telling that
Kurashev wasn't trashing Bedard's reputation, as we can tell he's always been about the team more than playing to his own ego.
As evidence, Bedard posted 67 points, and 44 of those were assists, a pure playmaker that should be dynamite when the right partner arrives on the 1st-line.
For now, Kurashev will have to carve out a new niche in San Jose without Bedard in the future.
