Team USA's in trouble after roster release that's missing an ex-Chicago Blackhawks fan favorite
Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat was not included in the invitation list of 44 players to the American Orientation Camp for the Winter Olympics.
Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat, who scored 39 goals for the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings this year, was not included in the list of 44 American names invited for Orientation Camp later this month for the Milan Olympics.
DeBrincat was the leading goal scorer for the Red Wings this year with 39, though they once again fell short of making the postseason.
It was an improvement over his total of 27 goals in his 1st year with Detroit after being acquired from the Ottawa Senators.
The American Orientation Camp, like Canada's, will take place later in the month.
Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane's connection stays strong
The Blackhawks traded DeBrincat in the summer of 2022 to the Ottawa Senators, bringing an end to his time with the team.
Kane was the second to leave the Blackhawks, getting traded to the New York Rangers at the 2023 Trade Deadline.
Both players would be reunited with the Red Wings in late 2023; the Red Wings traded for DeBrincat from Ottawa in the summer of 2023, while Kane would later sign as a UFA with Detroit in December.
Kane would later say that DeBrincat's presence on the Red Wings was a major reason why he's now signed consecutive 1-year deals with the team.
