A trade is underway in Boston with the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks should be knocking, according to a new report.

The Boston Bruins were definitely one of the most disappointing teams of the 2024-25 NHL season.
While other organizations like the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins surprisingly failed to reach the playoffs, the Bruins, who established a league-wide record for the best regular season in NHL history only two years ago, ended in last place in the Atlantic Division, a massive drop.
Boston made several moves at the last trade deadline and during the summer as well, but a new report suggested another deal could happen, this time with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Trade Could Happen Between Boston And Chicago Soon

In a report on RG.org, James Murphy wrote that while the Bruins only acquired Casey Mittelstadt at the last trade deadline for Charlie Coyle, the team could flip him, as their priority in the deal was getting William Zellers, a highly coveted prospect, shipped alongside Mittelstadt.
Here's what he said:
"I don't know how many rumors he's been in, but I've been hearing [Casey] Mittelstadt could be on the move again since before the Bruins season even ended. There was a common feeling that he wasn't their main target when they traded for him; Zellers and the second-round draft pick were.

I know their amateur scouts were hellbent on getting Zellers. They were intent on restocking with picks and prospects, and he was one of the prospects they were really targeting. That was a great get by the Bruins, and I think Don [Sweeney] did a great job at the deadline and at the draft in achieving their goal. That being said, where or how does Mittelstadt fit into their plan going forward?

I think a lot of teams have been and are expecting the Bruins to flip him at some point, but where's his value right now if that's the case? They may just see how it goes this season. Maybe he reshapes his value, and if they're out of it again at the next trade deadline, then they move him then and parlay him into another pick or prospect."

Mittelstadt, 26, scored six points in 18 games with the Bruins last season. In 438 total career games, the forward tallied 236 points, including 81 goals.
He could be an interesting acquisition for the young Hawks core. With all the rumors going around between the Bruins and the Hawks, a deal could end up happening soon. Stay tuned for more.
