A new team entered the Sidney Crosby sweepstakes as rumors of a potential trade out of Pittsburgh keep circulating.
The veteran captain recently signed a contract extension that keeps him with the Penguins through 2027, and his loyalty to the franchise has been well-documented over the years. Yet, whispers of a potential move persist, and the list of possible destinations just got a little longer.
LA Kings Join Crosby Sweepstakes
Frank Seravalli discussed the situation during a recent intervention, saying that the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche are still in the running, but the Los Angeles Kings reportedly joined them:
"I think there's been some teams, or a short list, Montreal, LA Kings, Avalanche, those are the teams have been talked about, but he hasn't shown any interest...in moving."
This marks the first time the Los Angeles Kings have been seriously mentioned in Crosby trade speculation.
Up to now, most of the conversation centered on the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche, teams with either rebuilding promise or immediate contention hopes. LA, however, has been building a great team and their playoff amibitions have never been higher.
Still, as Seravalli mentioned, Crosby has shown no interest in leaving Pittsburgh. There's been no indication from Kyle Dubas, the Penguins front office, or the player himself that any movement is imminent.
Crosby remains committed to Pittsburgh under new head coach Dan Muse, but as he approaches age 38, the idea of chasing one final Stanley Cup could eventually become more appealing. For now, it's all just noise. But if that changes, the Kings' emergence in this conversation will be something to watch very closely.
