The hockey world mourns tragic loss of a 17-year old player
The hockey community is mourning the loss of a 17-year old junior hockey player
A young junior hockey player of the Idaho Falls Eagles who showed great promise has sadly lost his life far too soon following a tragic car accident.
Carter Barnes was a 17-year old standout defenseman from Idaho who recently earned defenseman of the year, and is being remembered as a kind, loving and thoughtful soul that had a pair of skates on since the age of 5 as noted in
his obituary.
The young hockey player played for the Bonneville varsity ice hockey team and earned a Mayor's Scholarship Award and was a part of the National Junior Honor Society.
This is sadly one of many great tragedies in the hockey world this year.
Several organizations, including his own Idaho Hockey Association, issued statements on the devastating news, including the Cache Valley Amateur Hockey Association.
Our Hockey family up north in ID Falls is going through a really hard time right now with a tragic car accident taking one of their players and placing another in ICU. We want Carter and Waylon's families to know we are thinking of them. We would like to do a «Sticks out for Carter» on Tuesday. Please post your picture in the comments!! Let's rally like we know how to do around these families with a simple act of hockey love!!
The hockey community is coming together to put their sticks outside in honor of Carter's legacy.
We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones affected by this sudden loss.
