Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard joins the New York Rangers with terrible history

Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks have joined their original-six counterparts in the United States in making history, as the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, and Boston Bruins won't make the playoffs.
For the first time ever,
Bedard will join his other original-six brethren as they miss the playoffs.
A terrible record to add to your name, especially amongst teams who have been competitive prior to this season.
The
Blackhawks were already mathematically eliminated prior to this, but after the Rangers were decimated 7-3, they joined the Hawks in despair.
For New York, this is extra-shameful, as they were the team to win the President's Trophy in 2023-2024.
But for Kyle Davidson? This speaks volumes of what he's sold
Blackhawks fans on, a bill of goods with an empty container.
There have been some standouts this year amongst veteran pickups, but that has been
Nick Foligno, and
Ryan Donato, who have been a driving force in the Blackhawks' lineup.
Bedard's Blackhawks would join the Bruins team, which went 33-33-9 this season and was one of the first to be eliminated from postseason play in 2025. The firing of Jim Montgomery and trading away their entire core didn't help the cause either.
While the Red Wings continue their playoff drought under GM Steve Yzerman, an ongoing six-year debacle.
While it's difficult to say, the Blackhawks have an excuse as they are still in an ongoing rebuild. But for the spirit of competition which Bedard lives for, we know he won't accept it.
With the ongoing youth movement in Chicago, maybe they will turn the corner in the next few years and make the Bruins look like amateurs for once.
Either way, it's a frustrating revelation for us all.
