NHL free agency to feature surprising move involving Connor Bedard and Jake Guentzel
July 1st is quickly approaching and by no surprise, rumors and reports are surfacing faster than ever.
The biggest report in the hockey world as of right now comes from NHL insider, from Sportsnet, Elliotte Friedman. Insider Friedman has stated that he believes that Jake Guentzel, the most sought-after free agent, will sign in Chicago with the Blackhawks.
This is all influenced general manager Kyle Davidson and Connor Bedard, which comes from Davidson stating the team must get out of the losing culture and surround talent around Bedard to elevate his development to the next level.

On the Jeff Marek Show on Sportsnet, Friedman revealed the details on Guentzel joining Bedard in Chicago:
«Guentzel is a midwest (born) guy, Chicago is a midwest location. (The Blackhawks) realize they have to move things forward and they have to begin surrounding (Connor) Bedard with some players. I'm going with Chicago because of the proximity to where Guentzel is from.»
Guentzel was traded in early March for two draft picks and four players in a blockbuster move. He heavily influenced the team in the regular and post-season, tallying 8 goals and 17 assist, to make for 25 points in 17 games for Carolina.
«it very much sounds as though the most likely outcome at this stage is Guentzel going to the July 1 market." Said LeBrun.
Guentzel and his agent will surely have several teams calling, but only one of them (the Blackhawks) have deep pockets, with $35M in cap space heading into the off-season and free agency frenzy.
Buckle up Blackhawks fans!
