NHL commissioner Gary Bettman slams door shut on Joel Quenneville and Bowman
Gary Bettman makes crucial decision on Stan Bowman and Joel Quenneville
Throughout the past couple of months the NHL has remained tight-lipped on reinstating two names back into the league, and that is Stan Bowman and Joel Quenneville.
Heading into the off-season several teams are in search of coaches and new management for a fresh start in the 2025–26 season, those two names have surfaced as potential candidates, but are they allowed back into the NHL after the former scandal involving the Chicago Blackhawks?
The two are still suspended, and Gary Bettman was put on the spot ahead of game 1 between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers, during an interview:
"Gary Bettman says Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman remain ineligible to work in the NHL. Says he still 'has to consider' if or when that might change."
"NHL commissioner Gary Bettman on former Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville and GM Stan Bowman's status with the league: 'They're both not eligible. They both reached out seeking an opportunity to come back. It's something I have to consider.'"
Both have issued apologies, statements etc... but is that enough to deserve a second chance, or a third for Quenneville?
