Finalist for NHL's best coach award gets fired in shocking move Monday
The Seattle Kraken had a disappointing season, missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs after their league debut last year, where they made the playoffs and went far. Consequently, changes are coming to the coaching staff.
Today, the Kraken announced via Twitter (now X) that head coach Dave Hakstol has been relieved of his duties. Hakstol, the team's first coach, had a mixed tenure with a record of 107-112-27.
Despite struggles, Hakstol was a finalist for the Jack Adams Trophy as the League's best coach last season, showcasing his coaching skills.
Assistant coach Paul McFarland will also depart and be fired, signalling significant changes.
