After spending a couple of seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning and going to the cup finals with that organization, Perry decided to join the Blackhawks in a bid to help Connor Bedard grow his game and give the leadership and experience they would help other youngsters on the team.
Shortly after the season began, Perry was terminated from the Blackhawks after conducting himself poorly during a corporate event which led to a firestorm of rumours on the web involving Bedard. The rumors were false, and Perry left the Blackhawks in disgrace.
A few months later, Perry resurfaced in the news cycle And the Edmonton Oilers signed him in early February. During Games 6 and 7 in the second round of the playoffs against Vancouver, head coach Chris Knoblauch chose to make Perry a healthy scratch which led many to wonder if he will ever lace up his skates during a game again.
It appears that father time is catching up to Perry and it's quite likely this will be his last stop before he hangs up his skates. At this point, it remains to be seen on whether he will play again whether it's in the playoffs or next year, but one thing is certain he has certainly left an impact on the NHL throughout his 19 year career.
