The NHL is looking into how Juuso Valimaki's injury was managed after reports disclosed a troubling incident during a recent game in Dallas. Valimaki, a Calgary Flames player, apparently ended up at the emergency room just like any regular patient. He had to figure out his care alongside his wife, who was coincidentally in Dallas for the game, and a Coyotes team employee.

According to info from Daily Faceoff, after an initial check, the busy staff at the Dallas hospital advised Valimaki to get a nearby hotel and return the next morning. They explained that their focus was on more urgent trauma cases, such as gunshot victims, diverting their attention away from the Flames' defenseman.

The league is now looking into how Valimaki's injury was handled, bringing up questions about the procedures for NHL players seeking medical help during away games. The incident highlights the challenges players face when dealing with injuries outside their home facilities.

As the investigation unfolds, the NHL and its teams may need to review and strengthen protocols to make sure players get timely and proper medical care, especially in urgent situations. The results of this review could impact how the league approaches player health and safety during away games.
