Longtime Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin appeared to have confirmed the end of the longtime duo of himself and Sidney Crosby together in the NHL.

The upcoming year could truly be the end of an era for the Pittsburgh Penguins with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin together.
Malkin appears set to retire after 2025-26, while Crosby continues to be the subject of trade rumors.
On the 2nd day of training camp, Malkin did appear to imply that he could play another year in Pittsburgh beyond this one or could even accept a trade to another team, while specifically referencing Brad Marchand's trade last year from Boston to Florida, resulting in the Stanley Cup.
Per analyst Josh Yohe:
"Geno Malkin just spoke.

He finally said he wouldn't say no to staying.

This could be his last year, though; he'd consider an additional year (elsewhere).

He also said he'd been thinking long and hard about Brad Marchand's Stanley Cup Final victory in Florida and indicated the no-movement clause could be waived.

Developing story."

The Blackhawks could benefit from Pittsburgh

Not only is Crosby involved in trade rumors, but multiple other Penguins players are, something the Chicago Blackhawks could benefit from.
Of course, it's wishful thinking, but Crosby has been linked to the Blackhawks.
Forwards Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust are both on the trading block, and acquiring either one of them would provide an instant offensive boost up front for a team trying to climb out of that Western Conference basement.
The Blackhawks have no chance to acquire Crosby, but Rakell or Rust would be a possibility.
