There have been rumors ramping up about a possible move of New York Rangers Alternate Captain Chris Kreider. With GM Chris Drury looking to make a move to change the lineup significantly, Kreider could be the first to be moved.

The team has failed to live up to the same play that delivered a President's Trophy in the 2023-2024 season. After their Edmonton Oilers smashed them, with a 6-2 Chris Drury hit the panic button.

Could Chris Kreider find himself in a new team before the trade deadline? There's only a certain amount of teams in the NHL who have the assets that could afford a player like Kreider.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned a few days ago that the Rangers are expected to make big moves soon, likely involving players such as Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba.

One of them is the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks have a deep prospect pipeline and plenty of draft capital to move.

Kreider could use a fresh start as he's played 19 games for the Rangers this season scoring 9 points( 9 G, 0 A), and has failed to utilize his playmaking skills. But as a skilled goal scorer he could be a great addition to the Blackhawks top-six.

In the last three seasons he scored 30+ goals, and in 2023-2024 scored 69 points, while in 2022-2023 scored 54 points.

He could be a better option on the power play compared to Tyler Bertuzzi, or Nick Foligno, especially in the front of the net.

The Rangers could move Kreider during the offseason according to Darren Dreger:

Kreider carries a $6.5 Million AAV deal with the New York Rangers, which the Blackhawks could find if they send veterans who could help win a cup back to New York.

"I think it's pretty obvious there's frustration, angst, tension. Good. We're 20 games in. Let's go through this shit now and figure out who we are.

We had the best regular season in the history of an Original Six franchise last year, won a Presidents' Trophy, and didn't go as far as we would've liked.

We're getting exposed right now. Our warts are out there and teams are picking on the things we don't do well and we've gotten away from the things we do do well.

We don't necessarily know what this is right now, right? This could just be part of the story. We look back at this and say, 'This made us better'."

But for now, it seems it could be GM Chris Drury using his bully pulpit in the media to ratchet up tension in the locker room.

Kreider's a talent that many teams will covet, and the Blackhawks should do so as well.

The veteran forward has played 834 games in the NHL scoring 561 points( 313 G, 248 A), and has been a Ranger his entire 13-year NHL career.
