Connor McDavid's wife has revealed her husband's fate with the Edmonton Oilers organization

The Edmonton Oilers are still feeling the pain of having lost for the 2nd year in the row to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, denying their dream of what would have been their 1st championship since 1990.

Speculation immediately began to turn toward the future of superstar captain Connor McDavid with the club, as he's entering the final year of his current deal and didn't exactly sound like he was rushing to get an extension done.

McDavid's wife, Lauren Kyle, however, has dropped a major hint about his apparent intentions. She had a simple caption on social media that is giving Oilers fans hope that an extension will soon get worked on:

There are still older Oilers fans who recall all to well the sting of the trade of Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings, not long after he led the team to their 4th Stanley Cup win in only 5 years. It remains one of the most shocking trades not only in NHL but in professional sports history.

The good news for the Oilers is that they've already locked up fellow star forward Leon Draisaitl to a multi-year contract extension, while Zach Hyman is also under contract for the foreseeable future.

If Lauren Kyle's words on social media are any glimpse into the future, it looks as though McDavid will in fact be staying with the Oilers and not playing elsewhere like former Oilers stars like Gretzky, Mark Messier, Grant Fuhr, Paul Coffey, Jarri Kurri and others did.
