Two-time Stanley Cup champion winning forward Tyler Johnson, who played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning, announced his retirement today at the age of 34.

Tyler Johnson took to Instagram today to announce the end of his NHL career. Johnson is a former Two-time Stanley Cup champion who split his career between the Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, and Boston Bruins.
Johnson played for the Blackhawks for a total of 3 years at the beginning of the team's rebuild and would be a veteran presence in the locker room. While way past his prime, he still offered value and leadership for the younger players in the lineup.
""Playing for an Original Six team, the Chicago Blackhawks, was a profound privilege," Johnson said. "Wearing the crest of hockey's legends was humbling. My only regret is not bringing more success to Chicago's passionate fans-you deserve it."
Johnson would play with the Lightning at the beginning of his career and would make a trip to the Stanley Cup finals in 2015, 2020, and 2021. Only in 2020 and 2021 would he see himself and his team secure the ultimate prize in the NHL, only five years after their thumping by the Blackhawks dynasty.
He'd arrive in Chicago at the beginning of the 2021-22 season, which the team acquired him and a 2023 second-round pick for in a trade for Brent Seabrook's contract.
Despite the lack of success here with the Blackhawks, he felt the fans here should've been able to see more success on the ice, and he apologized for not being able to do so.
Quite a compelling statement for a forward who would later leave the organization at the end of the 2023-24 season. Regardless, it is a nice heartfelt statement for fans who have experienced continuous disappointment since 2016.
Johnson would end his career with the Boston Bruins, having played a total of 747 NHL games, and 493 points scored (193-240) and two-Stanley Cups to his name.
