Just over a year ago, the Blackhawks acquired Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty from the Vancouver Cancuks, a deal that the Blackhawks have come out on top of.

Last June, the Chicago Blackhawks acquired forwards Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty and a 2nd round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
The Canucks also retained 15% of Mikheyev's salary.
In his 1st year with the Blackhawks, Mikheyev had 34 points (20G, 14A) in 80 games; Lafferty is now back with Chicago after being traded to the Sabres, where he played last year and had 7 points (4G, 3A).

Blackhawks deemed clear winners of trade with Canucks

Via Michael DeRosa of The Hockey News, the Blackhawks were the clear winners of the trade.
Now that one year has passed since this trade, it is fair to say that bringing in Mikheyev has turned out to be a great move for the Blackhawks.

Mikheyev proved to be a nice fit on the Blackhawks' roster in 2025-26, as he scored 20 goals and set a new career high with 34 points. Overall, the 30-year-old gave the Blackhawks a decent amount of secondary scoring and had a strong bounce-back year in the process.

Mikheyev has 165 points (80G, 85A) in 350 career NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Canucks and Blackhawks.
He also has a year left on his current contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $4,750,000. If he has another year production wise like he did in 2024-25 for the Blackhawks, don't be surprised to see them offer him a new extension.
