Toews shuts down potential offer from Chicago Blackhawks in NHL return

The Chicago Blackhawks let the Jonathan Toews era of the franchise end in 2023, and much to the dismay of their fans if he returns to the NHL it won't be for the organization that drafted him.
The Chicago Blackhawks organization is one of legends, which has seen two recent NHL superstars pass through the lineup.
Two players specifically were
Patrick Kane, and
Jonathan Toews, as they were bonafide leaders and superstars who were part of the dynasty from 2010-2015.
With news of Toews's recent recovery, there's been a discussion of when and if he'd return to the NHL.
If he did, what time would sign him and where would he go?
Mark Lazerus of The Athletic pondered that question and pitched it to the former
Blackhawks captain, who had a disheartening answer.
He feels that this chapter in his life is closed for good, and given how GM Kyle Davidson let the veteran walk at the end of 2023 it's difficult not to relate to him.
But should the offer arise? Would he take it?
It's doubtful, and it sounds more or less like the next uniform he'll wear in the NHL won't be a Blackhawks crest.
Toews's latest interview with Lazerus does sound like he has some unfinished business to attend to.
"I'm not satisfied the way things ended in Chicago," Toews told Mark Lazerus in comments published Monday in The Athletic. "It's not about proving anything. It's just that there's something left in the tank, and I want to explore that. I want to go have fun, have a blast, play with passion.
Toews left Chicago with three Stanley Cups and heartbreak and we're not sure if we'll ever see him in a Blackhawks uniform again.
