The Chicago Blackhawks championship winning days were behind them a long time ago, which has allowed them to select a lot of promising young talent and prospects.
In a post by the NHL Network, according to them, all of the sacrifice was worth it, because the Blackhawks have the best prospect pool in the NHL, with this year's #3 overall pick Anton Frondell being the picture for the post, ahead of the San Jose Sharks and the Montreal Canadiens.
The Sharks, slotted at #2, took Michael Misa with the second pick in this year's draft to get their star forward, and have Sam Dickinson in the system as well to be their future #1 defenseman.
This is going to be a Western Conference Finals matchup in the future.
The Montreal Canadiens, slated at third on the list, is being carried by Ivan Demidov as their best prospect.
David Reinbacher is set to have a huge role this upcoming season in the defensive pair and is expected to take over. Meanwhile, a promising future goaltending tandem of Jacob Fowler and Jakub Dobes look to rule the Eastern Conference within the next two-to-three years.
Now, to the NHL Network, defensemen Artyom Levshunov and Sam Rinzel are still prospects. Just based off that alone after their play late last season, they take the cake. Add in Oliver Moore, a speed demon, Anton Frondell, Sacha Boisvert, etc, it's no wonder why they're first.
With the amount of young talent at Chicago's disposal, they're bound to find their way into the playoffs within the next couple years. It's only a matter of time before the first big free agency acquisition as well, and once that happens, expectations can start being set.
