Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom celebrate a Blackhawks win

Blackhawks goalie Spencer Knight is making it clear to Chicago's coaching staff that he wants to be the No. 1 goalie and that he wants the bulk of the playing time.

Goaltender Spencer Knight was traded from the Florida Panthers to the Chicago Blackhawks as part of the blockbuster Seth Jones trade last year.
Jones went on to win his 1st Stanley Cup while helping the Panthers repeat as Cup champions, and Knight will now try and compete for the bulk of the playing time on the rebuilding Blackhawks.
Knight made it clear that he hates not playing and would love nothing more than the bulk of the playing time, even saying he wants to play in no less than 65 games in what will be his 1st full year in a Chicago sweater.
I don't like sitting on the bench at all. I frankly kind of despise it. I hate it. I just don't like being on the bench when the team's out there. I always say I want to play 65 games a year. I don't know. Not many people do that anymore, but I want to play 65. I mean, sometimes I say 70, but that might be crazy to say! But that's just the mindset I have. is that I want to be the man!

So, to me, being able to play a lot more games at the end of this season was so much fun! I felt like I was a professional hockey player again, and that my teammates knew they could depend on me to stop the puck and be there for them.

Knight went 17-16-3 while splitting the year between the Panthers and Blackhawks.

The Blackhakws re-signed RFA goalie Arvid Soderblom: Battle of the crease with Knight?

Soderblom will have something to say about how much playing time Knight gets, as he wants to try and lay claim to the starter's job himself.
As an RFA, the Blackhawks decided to keep him around and signed him to a new 2 year extension.
