Seth Jones delivers emotional message after hoisting the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers
The former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones delivered an emotional message after hoisting the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career last night.
The Florida Panthers won a second straight Stanley Cup last night. For many players, this was the first time in their careers that they won the Stanley Cup, such as Seth Jones,
Nate Schmidt,
A.J. Greer, and many more.
Hoisting the Cup over your head is a dream most hockey players want to achieve, and Seth Jones' comments showed how much he has been wanting to do it.
Indeed, after the game, Jones opened up like he doesn't often do, with the heart.
Here's what he had to say on the ice, in a post-game interview:
«It's been a long year. These guys are unbelievable here. This organization is unbelievable. The teammates, the coaching staff, Bill Zito believed in me and gave me a chance, so this is the f**kin best day of my life."
The 30-year-old veteran didn't have much more to say, but did also open up on Conn Smythe winner
Sam Bennett when he was asked to share his thoughts on his teammate:
"He's just a hell of a player, not just the goal-scoring and the playmaking, but the physicality, the presence on the ice. I think the other (defense) pairs know when he's out there, and he's just a huge part of this team. I can't say enough good things about him."
Jones played an important role in the Panthers' playoff success, scoring nine points over 23 games.
With five seasons left on his $9,500,000 AAV contract, Jones will keep defending the Cats' blue line for many more seasons, trying to build on their dynasty, following some tough years with the Chicago Blackhawks.
