Offseason footage of Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard surfaces and something's very different
Connor Bedard skipped playing in the IIHF for Team Canada and instead focused on his game during this postseason, so when he returns to the Chicago Blackhawks, he's a better player.
Instead of playing in the IIHF for Team Canada,
Connor Bedard would head home to improve his game as a whole. His goals were to get better at skating, and it seems like he may have done so already.
This year will be his third year in the NHL, after setting the league on fire, winning a Calder Trophy after his 61-point campaign, he'd tally 67 as a sophomore with the Blackhawks.
He'd be subjected to criticism from fans and pundits everywhere for declining an invite to one of the biggest international tournaments, the IIHF World Championships.
Bedard would instead let
Macklin Celebrini play hockey with his idol,
Sidney Crosby, and put up highlight reel goals, and put his name out there for all of us to see.
But, for better or worse, it seems Bedard is already improving his skating abilities with recent video found on the internet.
After scoring 23 goals and 67 points this season, Bedard wasn't satisfied with his performance and, since April, has been working on self-improvement. This is the kind of work we like to see.
Not only does his stick-handling remain elite, but he'll continue to cut through defenses like butter, while beating the goalie with his newly found bursts of speed we haven't seen before.
Time will tell whether or not it'll help him best a 67-point season, and reach greater heights in the NHL. It all depends on what kind of ancillary linemate Kyle Davidson finds him during the draft or in July.
