NHL's lack of fair treatment for Connor Bedard on full display against the Boston Bruins
The NHL referees showed the Bruins deference tonight, when Fabian Lysell grabbed Connor Bedard while he was trying to pursue the puck, yet no hooking call was given.
The
Chicago Blackhawks were deprived of a power-play tonight thanks to the incompetence of on-ice officials.
The hooking call should've occurred with 7:32 left in the third period as Bruins prospect Fabian Lysell tried to assert control in the play. He would do so by grabbing Bedard and preventing him from recovering the puck, and of course, the officials treated the Blackhawks superstar as they do: no call on the play.
While the
Blackhawks were ahead by two goals, we supposed they wanted to give the home team an advantage that they had no business having.
The team would continue their dominance over the Bruins despite the obvious favoritism on display.
Bedard would help with an assist on Kevin Korchinski's goal this evening, in light of being unable to contribute offensively on the power-play, which was denied.
The way we've seen Anders Sorensen handled this favoritism with a cold, stoic attitude isn't helping his team win any games.
He might be checked out for the year, but he should focus on protecting Bedard, whom he's helped construct the new offense around.
Nevertheless, all 32 teams need to do something about Toronto's lack of discipline for terrible officials.
In the NFL, we witnessed mass discipline, as many officials were sent to lesser leagues due to their terrible performance this year.
Maybe the NHL should take a hint.
