Newly acquired members of the Chicago Blackhawks have officially unveiled their new jersey numbers and why.

The Chicago Blackhawks have accumulated some new talents on their roster over the offseason, and now, some of these players, as well as other players within the Hawks' season opening roster have officially revealed their new jersey numbers.

Chicago Blackhawks players 2025/26 NHL season opening roster reveal their new numbers and why

«I just came in and they had it. My second year of juniors I had it. No reason behind it. I like 6. I like a single digit. I'm not really a double-digit guy. Especially a defenseman, I like that it just looks clean and good. Obviously, 2 is unavailable. I like 4. Being part of this team, there's so much rich history. You got to respect the culture that guys past have brought the numbers to what it is. You just got to create your own.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 6: Jake McCabe.
«I honestly didn't pick No. 20. I was just given No. 20. I don't mind. It's a pretty cool number, so I'll take it.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 20: Rem Pitlick.
«The first time I was traded to Chicago, I think there were three numbers to pick from and 24 was by far my first choice. I really like wearing it and had some success with it. It was an easy choice when it was available to pick it again this time.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 24: Jaycob Megna.

Matt Grzelcyk, 48

«It was kind of given to me in Boston. But someone explained, it's kind of like Bobby Orr, Cam Neely with the 48. When someone said it to me, it kind of stuck with me. I just kept it. It was taken last year, but when it was opened this year, I jumped at it again. That's the only special reason behind it.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 48: Filip Roos.
«I had options and just picked 55 because I had 5 on the back (in college). The option to pick 55 was available. I think it works for me. Why not? It works for me.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 55: Kevin Korchinski.
André Burakovsky, 28
«I had it when I was younger. I used 28 when I was 14, 15. My dad was using it, too, when he played a bunch. That's kind of why I'm familiar with it.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 28: Colton Dach.
Colton Dach, 34
«Growing up, I was always No. 7. Kirby's mentioned it before. Our neighbor next door, who is actually my godfather, he was kind of our hockey idol growing up, he wore 7. We kind of followed suit that way. Got to junior and 7 was retired from the team I played and Kirby was 77, my other buddy was 17, so all the 7s were taken. I really thought 3 plus 4, 34, 7, kind of goes that way. I also really liked watching Auston Matthews at the time, so just kind of went that route.»

Last Blackhawk to wear 34: Petr Mrázek.
