Davidson told a story about how he was the driver who picked up Teravainen during his rookie year from O'Hare international airport, and how he would drive him elsewhere as Davidson was an assistant with the Blackhawks at the time.
Teravainen was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2012, first round 18th pick overall. He spent his first three seasons with the team and ended up winning the Stanley Cup in his rookie year. He was then traded to the Hurricanes where he has spent the remainder of his career until signing a new contract with the Blackhawks a few days ago.
Now 29, he signed a three-year $16.2 million deal and holds a cap hit of $5.4 million per season. Teravainen's point production certainly warrants this kind of money and it's an excellent signing for this upcoming era of the Blackhawks.
As expected, Davidson has been one of the busiest general managers in the lake as he has acquired several prominent players including Tyler Bertuzzi, Teravainen, llya Mikheyev, Patrick Maroon, Craig Smith Tj Brodie, Alec Martinez and Laurent Brossoit.
Many feel it's time the Blackhawks take a step forward in their aspirations to become a playoff contender and with these signings it's likely they will see a rise in the standings.
