Joel Quenneville's return to the United Center will not be a warm welcome: Per Chicago Blackhawks fans
The Chicago Blackhawks will welcome back former Stanley Cup-winning coach Joel Quenneville on October 19 at United Center, but the reception he gets from fans may not be the best.
The Blackhawks dismissed former Stanley Cup-winning head coach Joel Quenneville in November 2018 after a slow start to the year, and it wasn't long before he eventually found new work as head coach of the Florida Panthers.
But he resigned from his position in 2021, which also resulted in the resignation of Stan Bowman as Blackhawks GM.
Quenneville will make his 1st appearance back at United Center on October 19 as the Ducks play the Blackhawks, and while there will almost certainly be a video tribute message to thank Quenneville for his years with Chicago, the reception he gets from fans may not be the best.
Per a fan poll conducted by The Athletic's Mark Lazerus, there will be a good percentage of fans who won't be cheering for him.
Joel Quenneville acknowledged there is controversy around his hiring by the Ducks
Quenneville acknowledged that he's aware some fans are uneasy about his coming back into the NHL, and he
addressed those concerns directly during his introductory presser in May.
Buckle up, Blackhawks fans; it will surely be an interesting game!
