Gary Bettman called out by NHL agent: It's embarrassing for the players
NHL player agent Allan Walsh never ceases his chance to call out the NHL, Gary Bettman, and Bill Daly for their embarrassing business practices, and today was no different, as he aimed legitimate criticism his way is the NHLPA, catching this?
The NHL and the NHLPA agreed to the latest
CBA in 2025, as the newest contract is set to go into effect on September 13th, 2026.
As we're used to, Gary Bettman and the
NHL would bear the brunt of criticisms for this latest contract. And as a player agent, Allan Walsh would let the full force of his criticism go viral online, as Walsh has done before.
This time, he went after the contributions to the players' pensions, which, of course, are fully self-funded by the players themselves, from their own revenue.
What revenue remains untouched? The owners, of course!
Does this kind of agreement sound familiar?
Owners Magic Pocketbooks & the Ad Frenzy
In some weird magic, the owners' "contributions" come out of the players' pockets. Kind of like how the players owed money on escrow for the last three seasons for a pandemic they didn't cause.
Nevertheless, they utilized the crisis to put advertisements on everything they could, including helmets, jerseys, and on the ice digitally.
Walsh may be a pariah in a way due to the fact that he refuses to let the players' voice go unheard, but he is consistent in the way he goes about leveraging his position to criticize the league for its shortcomings.
Allan Walsh is correct for calling out Bettman, who's been a complete toady his entire life for the owners and the board of governors.
We've already had two lockouts and institutional CTE denial from the league thanks to him.
