Former Chicago Blackhawks forward suspended 10-games by Department of Player Safety
The NHL's department of player safety has laid the hammer down on Minnesota Wild, former Chicago Blackhawks forward Ryan Hartman.
This marks the biggest suspension in quite some time in the National Hockey League (NHL), and Hartman, a repeat offender, will forfeit $487,804.88 in salary over his suspension team.
Hartman was involved in an incident with Senators forward
Tim Stutzle, Hartman, was ejected for intention to injure and was given a match penalty for this play:
The NHL swiftly reviewed the incident and suspended Ryan Hartman, a whopping 10-games.
This is Hartman's fifth career suspension which played a significant role in the NHL's decision of 10-games for this incident.
Hartman, the former Blackhawk, has also been fined seven other times for past incidents.
Earlier in the game between the Senators and Wild, Stutzle slashed Hartman, which lead to a 2-minute minor penalty, and caused Hartman to react in a dangerous manner.
Hartman was last suspended in April when he threw his stick from the bench towards an NHL official after losing in overtime to
the Vegas Golden Knights.
Hartman has 48 hours to decide if he wants to appeal. His first appeal would go to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. If denied, he could take it to an independent arbitrator.
