A former Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings defenseman passed away on Sunday at the age of 84, the NHL Alumni Association announced.

John Miszuk has sadly passed away at age 84, the longtime hockey defenseman played parts of six NHL seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and the North Stars from 1963-1970 before taking his talents to the WHA in the mid-70s, where he played full-time for the Michigan Stags, Baltimore Blades and the Calgary Cowboys from 1974-77.
He is remembered for his physical and dominant two-way role, which led to him being a routine All-Star in the AHL.

John Miszuk suited up for 237 NHL games throughout his pro hockey career

Miszuk tallied up seven goals with 39 assists for 46 points as a defenseman throughout 237 NHL appearances and 72 points in 214 WHA games.
"John Stanley Miszuk, the NHL and WHA defenceman born on September 29, 1940, in Nalibaki (then part of Poland, now Belarus), passed peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Former NHL hockey player John Miszuk returned to his birthplace in Naliboki, Belarus, more than seven decades after his family was driven out during World War II. After spending part of his childhood in forced labour and refugee camps, Miszuk emigrated to Canada and started his remarkable journey to the NHL.

He is widely known for his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Minnesota North Stars between 1963 and 1970, and later for playing in the WHA-including the Michigan Stags/Baltimore Blades and Calgary Cowboys from 1974 to 1977. "
Hawksinsider sends our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones throughout this difficult time.
