A Chicago Blackhawks veteran aggravated a past injury in last night's loss to Jonathan Toews and the Winnipeg Jets.
The Chicago Blackhawks lost 6-3 to their former captain Jonathan Toews and the Jets in Winnipeg on Thursday night. The Hawks showed flashes of greatness but made many mistakes, a common trait of rebuilding teams trying to develop and find their rhythm in the NHL.
After the loss, the Hawks head coach Jeff Blashill opened up on the game and how his team fared against a top team like the Jets.
Here's what he said in his postgame press conference:
"It was kind of a weird game. There were moments in the game I thought we played really well, and then we made some big mistakes and those big mistakes ended up in our net."
"Obviously, they have one of the best top lines in the League and those guys get opportunities, they're gonna make you pay, and they did tonight."
«We haven't been down three going into the third and I thought our guys came out and fought hard.
That was one of the things I was interested to see in terms of the character of our group - were we gonna lay down or were we gonna come out and play? And I thought we did a good job of that. Against this team, it's hard to come back from that. We certainly made a fight for it."
During the game, the Hawks lost much more than the two points: a player had to leave due to an injury.
Late in the second period, the Chicago Blackhawks veteran Jason Dickinson had to leave the game.
If you missed it, here's his final shift of the game:
This season, Dickinson, 30, scored three points, including one goal, in eight games with the Blackhawks. His two-year, $4.25M AAV expires at the end of the current season.
