Former Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champion Makes a Move from Coaching To A New Role
Andrew Desjardins has officially retired from Professional Hockey at the age of 37. The Sudbury-born forward last played for VSV EC in Austria and has hung up the skates.
As he officially retired he hasn't given up on the game of hockey, as he is returning home to Sudbury to join an OHL team.
NHL alumnus Andrew Desjardins 🇨🇦 has retired from professional hockey at the age of 37, and will join the Sudbury Wolves (OHL) 🇨🇦 as an assistant coach.
Desjardins played 408 games in the NHL from 2010-2017 with the San Jose Sharks 🇺🇸 and Chicago Blackhawks 🇺🇸 � scoring 23 goals and 64 points in that span, and winning the Stanley Cup in 2015.
Other than the NHL, Desjardins also played professionally with:
- Laredo Bucks (CHL) 🇺🇸
- Worcester Sharks (AHL) 🇺🇸
- Phoenix Roadrunners (ECHL) 🇺🇸
- Adler Mannheim (DEL) 🇩🇪
- Villacher SV (ICEHL) 🇦🇹
He won the German championship with Mannehim in 2019.
Great career for an undrafted player.
He will join the Sudbury Wolves as an Assistant Coach in the OHL and will take his entire professional resume and experience to the OHL to help develop the next NHL superstar in the juniors.
Not only has Desjardins played 408 games in the NHL, he's scored 64 points( 23 G, 41 A) during his entire NHL career.
He has won the Stanley Cup once in his career with the Blackhawks in 2015 and won the German Championship with Adler Mannheim in 2019.
