Seth Jones was traded to the Florida Panthers after he negotiated with the team through the media, effectively forcing their hand earlier in the year.
The deal, which Kyle Davidson handled wonderfully, gave the Blackhawks a future #1 goalie in Spencer Knight, along with getting rid of a percentage of Seth
Jones' contract.
The deal sent
Seth Jones, and a 2026 4th-round pick to Florida, in return for goalie Spencer Knight, and a 2026 1st-round pick, while the team would retain 26% of Jones's salary.
Now, Jones was a vital part of the Panthers' Stanley Cup win, and the Panthers aren't letting them forget it. The Blackhawks split the regular series matchup with the Panthers 1-1-0 in 2024-2025.
However, they felt the need to get the upper hand, which arguably they already had.
The jab wouldn't be so hurtful if Seth Jones didn't make the entire trade a public ordeal. However, he'd successfully forced Davidson's hand and, as a result, would win a Stanley Cup with the Panthers.
You could tell in Chicago he was checked out earlier in the year, and wasn't enthused with the team, which had begun a rebuild so soon after he had arrived.
He scored two points (1-1) in 5 Stanley Cup final games and was a role player in the Panthers' latest triumph.
