Per a new report from NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun, the Chicago Blackhawks and forward Connor Bedard are in a fluid situation when it comes to his new contract.

The Chicago Blackhawks are off to a good start so far this year, renewing hope among their fans that they could potentially be back in the playoffs for the 1st time since 2020 if things still keep going right.
But one thing that's hanging over the rest of the team right now is the contract status of forward Connor Bedard, who is in the last year of his current deal and isn't signed beyond 2026.
Per a new report from NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun, the Blackhawks have approached Bedard's camp about a new deal, but the situation remains fluid.
"They spoke conceptually, which normally means there would have been some numbers thrown around. But it doesn't sound like it got too far. The result was the 2023 No. 1 pick wanting to shelve things for the moment while he focused on getting ready for this season, which he hoped would be better for himself and his team.

So far, so good on that front.

My understanding is neither side has pinpointed exactly how far down the road they've kicked the ball. It's a fluid delay. Perhaps they pick it back up in the new year. Perhaps it waits until after the season. Either way, nothing is imminent on that front."

So far this year, Bedard has 12 points (6G, 6A).

The Blackhawks Recently Re-Signed Frank Nazar

Even though the Blackhawks haven't signed Connor Bedard to a new deal yet, they did lock down Frank Nazar for the next seven years.
Over the life of his deal, Nazar will take home more money than Wayne Gretzky made in his entire career.
It's safe to say that Bedard's new deal will dwarf Nazar's when it finally gets completed.
