Completed trade between the Ottawa Senators and Chicago Blackhawks takes a turn for the worst
A trade completed between the Ottawa Senators and Chicago Blackhawks has now taken a turn for the worse.
It appears evident that no prospects who were drafted in the NHL who show high potential will get a final shot at making the NHL at 21 years old.
Surprisingly, that's what some analysts covering the Blackhawks believe will happen in Chicago.
The Hawks have gotten a lot younger over the years, and unless GM Kyle Davidson makes room for the young players in the lineup by trading veterans, it's obvious that some will start in the AHL.
A new development suggested that a player will need to start the year in the AHL once again.
Hawks Defenseman To Start the Year In The AHL: There's Nothing To Worry About
Kevin Korchinski, who just turned 21, has been removed from the Hawks' defensive unit on Daily Faceoff, suggesting he'll start the next season in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs.
However, the fact that a 21-year-old defenseman starts a season in the AHL, despite taking part in 92 NHL games so far in his career, isn't worrying.
Most players, especially at the blue line, need time to develop and reach their full potential.
Since the trade,
DeBrincat has established himself as one of the league's top goal scorers. While trading him away for a pick that struggles to find NHL rhythm doesn't make the Hawks look good right now, the defenseman still has time to have a breakout season.
In no way will the Hawks give up on Korchinski this year, unless a good trade offer is sent their way.
Taking time with young players isn't a bad thing, especially when you have enough depth at their position.
Korchinski is also the team's best option in case of injuries, making him a tough player to part ways with and highlighting how close he is to making the NHL.
