Now, it appears he may be headed to the AHL if no one ends up claiming the Blackhawk's depth forward.
This season has been a dismal year for Anderson, as he's been a part of the Blackhawks lineup which has struggled.
In 12 games he's only put up 1 point ( 1 A) in 2024-2025, while last season he put up a career-high 17 points( 5 G, 12 A).
Anderson,
Pavel Gogolev, a 2025 1st-round pick, and a 2026 2nd-round pick were the return for
Jake McCabe,
Sam Lafferty, a 2024 5th-round pick, and a 2025 conditional 3-round pick.
That trade took place on February 27th, 2023 and Anderson would become one of the team's key pieces last season.
The Blackhawks would re-sign him to a two-year deal on July 1st, 2024. But now with Luke Richardson out of a job, is GM Kyle Davidson giving the team a slight facelift?
Joey Anderson is returning to the Chicago Blackhawks on a two-year deal with an $800,000 cap hit.
Anderson has played 163 games in the NHL, split between the Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
He's scored 40 points(19 G, 21 A) during his 5-year career in the NHL and if he clears waivers will be assigned to the
Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.
If NHL teams need a depth option in the lineup,
Joey Anderson could prove to be useful with a fresh start elsewhere.
His $800K salary cap hit is a friendly price tag for teams who need depth.
