Mrazek was injured last night with 9:21 left in the 1st period in the Blackhawks game against the Winnipeg Jets.
He had been healthy recently and was able to bear the duties of being the Blackhawks starting goalie until he wasn't.
Now, with Mrazek being placed on injured reserve, the Blackhawks have to make a callup from Rockford, prospect
Drew Commesso will be the one to backup goalie
Arvid Soderblom.
This isn't the first time Mrazek's injured his groin in the Blackhawks uniform. The nagging injury first bothered him in October, and December of 2022 soon after his arrival from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Since then he's found his way as the only goalie the Blackhawks could rely upon, and could this be a result of the workload being too heavy for him?
After Mrazek made his fourth save of the game, play was stopped and he went to the Blackhawks locker room at 10:46 of the first period.
"He'll be out for a little bit," said Blackhawks interim coach Anders Sorensen, who replaced Luke Richardson on Thursday.
Mrazek has been the goalie who won the starting job last season after Arvid Soderblom failed to play up to expectations last season.
The team acquired Laurent Brossoit in the offseason, to back up the workhorse Mrazek and is still out on injury. Sounds familiar?
Mrazek has a 7-11-1 record, 2.38 GAA, and a .906 save percentage this season.
No word on how long Mrazek, will be out but he's the 2nd goaltender in the organization suffering an injury.
