Red Wings acquire fan favorite from the Blackhawks
The Red Wings reacquired a fan favorite in "Mighty Mouse" Leswick from the Blackhawks in exchange for cash.
Cash can be considered the same as today's day and aged "future considerations" that we witness a lot in trades around the National Hockey League.
A small forward, to say the least, Leswick stood at 5-foot-7 and 160 lbs, but his size didn't shy away from his feisty play.
His gritty style of play led to him becoming a fan favorite with the Red Wings from 1951 to 1955 which was the era that Detroit won three Stanley Cups.
"69 years ago today ON THIS DAY in hockey history (August 1, 1956):
The Detroit Red Wings reacquire Tony "Mighty Mouse" Leswick from the NHLBlackhawks for cash"
The trade seems to have favored the Blackhawks side of things as it provided them cash relief throughout their rebuilding process.
