The Columbus Blue Jackets are in the market for a new GM, as Jarmo Kekäläinen was fired near the end of the season.

With no new GM being named for the Blue Jackets, there's speculation about who will be next in the line for the job. Davidson has prioritized experienced and analytical capabilities.

With Davidson being interviewed by the media, about the next possible hire he threw out the usual suspects in Marc Bergevin and Ken Holland. But he also mentioned "she" which of course had reporter's ears perk up.
Instead of reaching out to the usual NHL carousel of available GMs, how would it look if the Blackhawks lost Meghan Hunter? It seems that the Blue Jackets could be interested in her, as she matches the skills required for the Jackets.
Hunter has played the game and is the niece of Mark and Dale Hunter, who are owners of the London Knights. While the CBJ is interested in Mark Hunter, Meghan could be the left-field candidate.
Hunter got her start in 2016 with the Blackhawks in hockey operations and would be promoted in 2020 to Dir. of Hockey Administration, with scouting duties.
In 2022, she would be promoted to the Assistant General Manager Role which duties are spread out between managing the salary cap, daily operations, managing contracts, team services, roster construction, and hockey ops budget, is the main contact between the team and NHL HQ, also works with the coaching staff and player development. Her roles are vast.
Which means, if the Blackhawks were to lose Meghan Hunter, they would lose a vital piece of the rebuild.
Should the Blackhawks let someone who isn't a retread getaway to Columbus, when she's been important to the organization? Absolutely not if Danny Wirtz should have any say in the matter.
The Blue Jackets' buckets of names including Eric Tulsky, Matthieu Darche, and Chris McFarland as candidates, albeit how likely they are remains unknown.
If the Blackhawks need a new look, they need fresh faces in the organization to continue the success needed to build a winning team.
