The Chicago Blackhawks and the NHL referees are at odds at the moment, as Interim Coach Anders Sorensen has called out the officiating in the league for their continued mistreatment of Connor Bedard.

The Chicago Blackhawks' entire season has been a disappointment after loading up on NHL veterans, to a major coaching change a quarter of the way into the year.
Generational talent Connor Bedard would begin a scoring slump in the middle of the season, and has pulled himself out of his hole and scored a point against the Devils last night.
He's scored 56 points (20 goals, 36 assists) in 72 games for the Blackhawks.
While he's pulled himself out of a seven-game pointless streak this month, another troubling topic is the NHL officiating.

Anders Sorensen's Opinion on NHL Officiating

Chicago Blackhawks Interim Coach Anders Sorensen is following suit and calling them out for their mistreatment of Connor Bedard.
A recent example of how biased the NHL seems to be against Bedard is the lack of calls for blatant penalties against him, including last night when Simon Nemec bullied him for a minute straight.
But they had no issue giving him two game misconducts in a row for questioning their calls.
«I just don't know what to gain out of it,» Sorensen said. «They've made their call; they're probably not going to change it. You can try to talk to them in TV timeouts to get an explanation that way instead. Coming across yelling is probably not going to help the sitution, right? Try to build a relationship and talk to them - I think that will go a longer way down the road.»

While Bedard's only in his sophomore NHL season, drawing penalties shouldn't be an issue for him.
He's got a target on his back for NHL players everywhere, and with his lack of protection on the ice, you've seen what he's endured.
Simon Nemec grabbed him by the jersey and slammed him on the ice last night, which is one example of calls missed by the league.
Toronto refuses to step in and give Bedard and the Blackhawks the benefit of the doubt, and Anders Sorensen is right to be incensed with them at the moment.
While the team does ice players like Pat Maroon and Tyler Bertuzzi, we've only ever seen Maroon step up for his teammates.
Will Bedard ever get calls recognized by NHL officiating in the future, or is that another thing we'll have to wait on?
