A young prominent San Jose Shark has been spotted on the ice with Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard
During a recent training session, Chicago Blackhawks young star Connor Bedard skated with another young star from the Western Conference in San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard, who was taken with the 1st overall pick by Chicago in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, has not been shy about expressing his disappointment in the constant losing he's experienced so far in his young career.
Bedard and the Blackhawks have finished near the bottom of the standings in each of his 1st pair of years in the League, and they're
not realistically expected to be back in the postseason any time soon.
Until then, he continues his summer training and was recently joined by another young star forward of a rebuilding team, San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini.
Like Bedard, Celebrini was recently taken with the 1st overall pick, this time by San Jose in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Bedard had nothing
but good things to say about Celebrini, who is also trying to raise his team from the NHL's basement.
He's a dynamic player. I know coming in as an 18-year-old is tough and obviously it's a good league, so I'm glad to see his production and his impact on games has been awesome. It's been fun to watch.
Once top teams in the Western Conference, both the Blackhawks and Sharks have a long way to go before they return to that level.
The Blackhawks have a new head coach this year
After the firing of Luke Richardson by the Blackhawks, Rockford IceHogs coach Anders Sorensen took over on an interim basis but only won 17 games.
He'll remain with the club as an assistant coach on the staff of Jeff Blashill, who was hired in May as the team's new full-time head coach. He'd previously coached the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings and has spent the last 3 years as an assistant with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
