William Nylander traded to the Blackhawks: a major offer just emerged

According to some in the NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs core four could be a thing of the past after this season.

That is if they don't face up to the Boston Bruins and advance into the 2nd round. But with the Bruins leading the series 3-1, it seems unlikely that the team can conjure enough Bieber power to win it all.


But this always leads to ideas and suggestions by some beat reporters, who albeit mean well, sometimes tend to cause outrage.


That is, not to say the outrage is right, but Tab Bamford of Bleacher Nation and The Fourth Period posted a trade on Twitter that riled up the internet.



From a recent playoff game, he saw the conflict on the Toronto bench, where Mitch Marner caught flak from Auston Matthews and William Nylander.

The trade Bamford proposed involved sending Seth Jones for Mitch Marner, who is part of the core four who hasn't been able to deliver playoff success, or a Stanley Cup for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Maple Leafs faithful obviously would take offense at such an idea, as Marner for some is a beloved figure for the team.

While Seth Jones, arguably could be an improvement on defense for the Maple Leafs, a 1-1 might even sound ridiculous all around.

Jones wants to be a part of a contending NHL team and that would give him a shot, but I'm not sure Brad Treliving could see it that way.

But it's a fun idea to ponder, Connor Bedard with Mitch Marner would be a combination you could only dream of on NHL '24.
