Buffalo Sabres complete blockbuster trade sending 23-year old JJ Peterka to the Western Conference
The Buffalo Sabres and Utah Mammoth have combined for a huge trade just hours ago at 1:35 a.m on Thursday, involving former 34th overall overall pick JJ Peterka.
It has been announced that upon his arrival to Utah, Peterka has inked a five-year contract worth $38.5 million, which breaks down to $9.625M per season.
Peterka's coming off of a 27-goal and 68-point season which was a career high for the 23-year old forward, who's spent his career with the struggling Sabres organization so far.
Acquired by the Sabres, Josh Doan, is the son of Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan. He finished last season with 7 goals and 19 points.
Also acquired by the Sabres, defenseman Michael Kesselring, set career highs last season with 7 goals and 29 points in his third year in Utah.
Kesselring a huge add for the Sabres
According to an analysis by Senior Writer Thomas Drance of The Athletic, Kesselring, acquired by the Sabres, isn't just an ordinary defenseman.
»I'm sorry but your favourite team couldn't have easily matched the Peterka package.
Very few teams have a spare 25-year-old 6-foot-4 slick puck moving defender with a $1.4M cap hit who had nearly 30 points this year just lying around. Stop it.»
- Thomas Drance
After all, Peterka did leave the Sabres in a tough spot as it appears he requested a change of scenery.
