Terrifying Scene As 22-Year Old Goaltender Loses All Consciousness On Ice During Hockey Game
A terrifying scene has emerged in the hockey world as a 22-year old goaltender was forced to be helped off the ice in a stretcher following a very uneasy sequence
University of New Hampshire goaltender
Jared Whale started between the pipes against Boston College, and the 22-year olds' game came to an end with just five minutes left in the period.
Whale's teammate collided with him which resulted in losing consciousness, lying motionless on the ice as fans held their breath.
Medical staff rushed to the young goaltender, spending a lump sum of time with him before he would ultimately exit the game on a stretcher for further evaluation.
The referees canceled the remainder of the period and signalled both teams to head to their respective locker rooms due to the unfortunate situation.
24-year old backup goaltender Rico DiMatteo took the leads between the pipes for the next period, which had an extra 5 minutes added onto the clock.
'Good news coming back from the hospital. So just some precautionary testing being done now, and knock on wood, hope to be able to send one of the guys from staff over to grab him and hopefully head on home.'
While New Hampshire took a 4-1 loss to Boston College, the ultimate loss was off-ice and in goaltender Jared Whale's health.
We send our deepest wishes as he recovers from this frightening injury.
