The Blackhawks have four players who will have to leave the organization for the international stage. These prospects have had an excellent showing in international play recently, as the Blackhawks pipeline had eyes on it as the IIHF tournament ramped up.
Fast forward to July 2024 and the Blackhawk's prospects continue to make headlines, as
Aj Spellacy,
Oliver Moore, and
Janne Peltonen will be attending the World Juniors Summer Showcase this year.
Spellacy was excellent in the OHL last season putting up 38 points( 21 G, 17 A) with the Windsor Spitfires. The 72nd overall pick in this year's draft turned down offers to play football in order to stick to hockey.
He of course will be joining the fastest skater in the NHL draft in 2023, Oliver Moore, who scored three points in last year's tournament. He will again be hunting another gold medal in the future.
Moore and Spellacy will compete against Team Sweden, Finland, and Canada, of which the Blackhawks have no prospects playing for Canada or Sweden currently, but they will face off against the 195th overall pick in Janne Pelton, a Blackhawks defensive prospect.
The players will leave development camp to practice for the WJSS, this weekend and games will be played from Sunday to Saturday.
The IIHF World Junior Champions will take place on December 26th, 2024 through January 5th in Ottawa, Ontario.
