Montreal Canadiens fans take things too far upon Ivan Demidov's arrival at Toronto Pearson Airport
The Montreal Canadiens are known to have one the best fan bases in the National Hockey League, but they may have went overboard when they stormed Toronto Pearson Airport when their top prospect Ivan Demidov arrived on Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens organization unveiled a major
signing in top prospect Ivan Demidov, who is known as one of the NHL's most exciting prospects and a product of the KHL.
Demidov's arrival was uncertain due to legalities and contract agreements overseas, but when Habs fans found out their 19-year old star was coming over via plane, they may have went to far.
Canadiens fans began tracking their prospect's flight, making it the most viewed flight in the entire world, and even stormed the Montreal airport.
That was until the Canadiens believed it may be best to send their phenom to the Toronto Airport due to the surrounding chaos of fans who would be present at his Montreal arrival and due to the fact that they play the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Regardless of the flight switch, fans traveled to Toronto and even began livestreaming 'Demidov's airport arrival' while tracking his flight on a live plane radar.
Despite the former 5th overall pick's flight landing at roughly 8:00 p.m on a Thursday, fans still sat around and waited for his arrival.
«We love you, Demidov!»
Fans screamed when he arrived at the airport, alongside police officers and security.
Various fans and Canadiens reporters swarmed the 19-year-old as he attempted to put his equipment into a sprinter van outside of arrivals; just take a look at the crowd:
The official Canadiens store has already sold out of Ivan Demidov's #93 jersey, and are already working on an order that will arrive by April 17.
Just in time for his NHL debut on April 14th against the Chicago Blackhawks at the Bell Centre.
If you're planning on hitting up Monday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, be ready to pay.
The lowest priced tickets on Ticketmaster are going for $271.33 in the highest possible seats at the Bell Centre in section 422, row D.
For seats in the lower bowl, prepare to pay close to or over $1,000.
«It's a beautiful thing,» said Habs fan Matt Busato-Viviani. «Playoff fever; nothing else like it.»
The Canadiens have games in Ottawa and Toronto before coming home for the match-up with the Blackhawks Monday.
