The hockey community is mourning after a 19-year old hockey goaltender has tragically passed away after a freak accident while working.
A young goaltender, Liam Cobb, has lost his life far too soon.
According to a
statement released by the family, Liam succumed to injuries suffered while working on a wind turbine in Medicine Bow, Carbon County.
«It's just kind of devastating when you see a young person pass away,»
Said Anna Cobb.
Liam is remembered as a curious and motivated young individual, which led him to working on wind turbines.
«Liam was so smart, always questioning why do things work the way they do,» she said. «He was always curious.»
Cobb was a star between the pipes, winning the Bantam A state championship in 2020 alongside his cousin Beth Cobb.
The Douglas Youth Hockey Association confirmed the saddening news on Thursday in a post on Facebook.
«Our deepest condolences go out to the Cobb family on the heartbreaking loss of their son, Liam. Our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.»
The family has setup a
GoFundMe page for help to honor Liam's legacy and cover memorial costs.
Liam's father thanked the organization for their heartfelt post.
Many people have begun placing hockey sticks outside their door in honor of Liam.
We would like to send our sincerest condolences to the friends, family, and those affected by this terrible tragedy. #SticksoutforLiam
May you rest in peace, Liam.
