Elliotte Friedman drops stunning report involving a Sidney Crosby trade possibility
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman of the 32 Thoughts Podcast believes that the possibility of Kyle Dubas trading Sidney Crosby from the Pittsburgh Penguins is growing despite his desire to remain.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a team that hasn't made the NHL playoffs since the 2022 season. Despite Sidney Crosby's
desire to stay in Pittsburgh, the rebuild taking place currently will put his Stanley Cup prospects far beyond his latest contract.
The Penguins' Captain re-signed with the team for a 2-year extension, keeping him in the black and yellow, until 2027. This is troubling for Crosby, who wants to lift a Stanley Cup one more time before he retires.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman believes that Crosby should be
open to a trade to a contender far from Pittsburgh, if he's ever to have a shot at the Stanley Cup again.
"His first choice is to be a Penguin forever; people around him...have tried to say to him, if the team keeps missing the playoffs you gotta go somewhere else."
-Elliotte Friedman
Will Crosby be ready to be
moved to another team in the NHL, out of Pittsburgh, and to a contender in March?
Sidney Crosby Available At The Trade Deadline?
There could be a point in the season where Crosby tires of suiting up for a team that won't be able to achieve much, as players grow into their roles.
The Montreal Canadiens have been one team who have surfaced in discussions of a Sidney Crosby trade. But we'd think they may have to give up more than they'd like to acquire the two-time Stanley Cup champion.
But that hasn't stopped
The Athletic from putting the idea out there.
Last season, the Penguins' Captain scored 33-58-91 points in 80 games, as the 1st overall pick in 2005, remains an elite forward in the NHL.
